You've got off the ship. Now what? It's about 25 minutes south by van, rickshaw or bike. Here's how your first afternoon goes.
The ships land at the main jetty at the north end of Saint Martin's Island. El Marena Eco Resort is at the quiet south end, near Chera Dip. Here's how to get from one to the other, and what to expect when you arrive.

Getting off the ship
The jetty gets crowded when a ship comes in. There's no rush, so let the first wave go. Keep your ticket handy, because you'll need it for the trip back.
The ride south
There are no cars on the island. Take a van, rickshaw or bike from the jetty, and it's about 25 minutes to us. Tell the driver El Marena, near Chera Dip. If you'd like us to help arrange it, message us on WhatsApp before you sail. Mobile signal varies around the island, so save our number and your booking on your phone.
Checking in
Check-in is from 1:00 PM and check-out is by 12:00 PM (noon) the next day. Most guests arrive after the ship lands around midday, which fits nicely. A complimentary drink comes with your stay.
Your first afternoon
- Have a late lunch at the restaurant. See our food menu.
- Ask us when low tide is, so you can plan Chera Dip.
- Walk out to the rocks for the sunset.
- Tell us if you'd like the barbecue tonight.

The ship's sailing date and times are set each season, so check them before you travel. Our Is Saint Martin open now? page has the latest.
Keep these handy
- Your ship ticket with the QR code, saved and printed
- Your ID
- Cash for the ride. Card machines can't be counted on
- Sunglasses and water for the walk along the jetty
- A small bag for the day, so you can leave the big one at the cottage
With children or older parents
Wait for the crowd to clear before you walk down the jetty. Hold on to little ones, because it gets busy. A van is the easiest ride with bags, and if anyone in your group finds walking difficult, tell us before you travel so we can help you plan.
Going back
Check-out is by 12:00 PM, and last season the ship left the island at about 3 to 3:30 pm. Have lunch, then leave for the jetty in good time. The ride takes about 25 minutes, but allow extra for finding a van and for the crowd at the jetty. Tell us your ship the day before, and we'll help you plan the morning.
