Fresh fish on the charcoal as the evening sets in. How our barbecue works, what to order with it and how to plan it.
If there's one evening we'd plan your trip around, it's barbecue night. As the light goes, the charcoal at our barbecue spot gets going, and fresh fish, lobster or chicken goes on the grill. It's our highlight at El Marena Eco Resort, and it's simple: you pick what you want, we grill it, you eat outside with the sea close by.

How it works
- Ask us in the morning what came in fresh today. The fish depends on what the boats bring.
- Pick your fish, lobster or chicken. The price depends on what you choose, so ask us before we start.
- We grill it over charcoal at our barbecue spot in the evening.
- Eat it there, or take it to the restaurant with rice and vorta.
What to have with it
A full plate of rice is ৳50, lentil ৳80 and alu vorta ৳60. Lobster is ৳600 for one person, and grilled lobster is one of the best things you can eat on the island. If someone in your group doesn't eat fish, chicken works just as well on the grill. Finish with a cold drink or a Burmese coffee from our café list.
Prefer to grill it yourself?
There's a self BBQ facility too. Bought fish at the market, or just enjoy doing it yourself? Tell us and we'll set you up. Our self-cooking guide has more on cooking your own catch.

After dinner
When the grill goes quiet, the bonfire starts, under a sky full of stars. Quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM, so keep the music low after that. For a couple, a candlelight dinner on the beach is the other evening to plan.
Coming as a group? Tell us your numbers in the morning, and we'll keep enough fish aside for everyone.
Barbecue night works for everyone: couples, families and big groups. Children can play on the playground nearby while the fish cooks. For a group of friends, it's the easiest way to eat together without anyone having to choose for the whole table. On your last night, it's a good way to finish the trip.
