Two tents pitched on the sand beside beach shrubs

A night in a beach tent at El Marena

Fall asleep to the sea and wake up close to the beach, at our lowest price. Here's what a tent night is really like.

A tent is the simplest way to stay at El Marena Eco Resort, and for some guests it's the whole point of coming. We have 6 tents close to the beach near Chera Dip, with the restaurant, barbecue spot and bonfire a short walk away.

What you get

  • A 2-person dome tent close to the beach
  • Clean shared washrooms with running water and showers
  • The evening campfire and barbecue close by
  • The football ground and the children's playground

How the evening goes

Watch the sunset, then walk over for dinner at the restaurant. Our food menu has the prices. After that it's the bonfire, the stars and the sound of the waves. The south end of the island has very few lights, so a clear night is properly dark. Quiet hours are 11 pm to 7 am.

What to bring

  • A small torch. Keep it on the path and off the beach, because sea turtles nest here in winter.
  • A light layer for the night.
  • A power bank.
  • Flip-flops for the walk to the washroom.

What it costs

A tent is ৳1,000–৳1,500 for the whole tent, which sleeps two. Sunday to Thursday is the lower price. It's our most budget-friendly stay. See more on the tent page.

Tent or cottage?

Choose a tent if you want to be close to the sea, you're happy with a shared washroom, and the price matters most. Two friends can stay for ৳500 each on a Sunday to Thursday night. Choose a cottage if you'd like a door, a bed and a fan. And if your group is mixed, you can do both: some of you in a cottage, some in tents, all at the same bonfire.

Who it suits

Friends on a budget, couples who like camping, and anyone who wants to wake up close to the sea. Children love the idea, but a tent sleeps only two, so a family with children would be better in a duplex. If you've never camped, one night is a good way to try it.

Eating when you're in a tent

Meals are paid separately. Breakfast starts simply, with tea at ৳30 and paratha and egg at ৳50 a piece. For dinner, fish dishes start at ৳220, and you can use the barbecue spot and pay only for the food. Book the barbecue when you arrive, so we can have fish ready for you.
