How to plan a honeymoon or a couple's getaway on Saint Martin's Island: pick the right dates and end of the island, choose your cottage, and add a candlelight dinner on the beach.
Saint Martin's Island is one of the few places in Bangladesh where a couple can watch the sun set over rocks and sea, eat fish from the morning's catch and walk under a sky full of stars, all in one day. It can also be crowded and noisy near the jetty. Here's how to plan a quiet honeymoon or couple's trip, from the team at El Marena Eco Resort near Chera Dip.
Overnight stays depend on the season's rules. Last season (2025–26) they were allowed in December and January but not in November. When we wrote this (October 2026), the 2026–27 rules hadn't been published.
When to go
A honeymoon here only works when overnight stays are allowed, because the sunsets, the stars and the early morning all happen outside the day-trip hours. Within the season, Sunday to Thursday is quieter on the island and, with us, half our regular price. Fridays, Saturdays and holidays are the busiest. Our article on the best time to visit explains the season.
Stay in the quiet south
The ships dock at the jetty at the north end, the busiest part of the island. The south around Chera Dip is quieter, with rocky shores, fewer people and dark skies at night. It's a short van, rickshaw or bike ride from the jetty, and from there you can walk to Chera Dip at low tide early in the morning, before the day-trippers arrive.
Which cottage for a couple?
- Duplex cottage (৳4,000–৳6,000): our pick for a honeymoon. A two-storey wooden cottage on stilts with a double bed, an attached bathroom, a balcony with a hammock and a lookout tower on top. Complimentary breakfast included.
- Single cottage (৳2,000–৳3,000): a simple, quiet room for two with a double bed and a common bathroom. The budget choice.
- Tent (৳1,000–৳1,500): a night close to the beach, if you'd like an adventure more than comfort.
Prices are for the whole cottage or tent, not per person. If you want your own bathroom, choose the duplex: single cottages and tents share a common one.

A candlelight dinner on the beach
Our most-asked extra for couples: dinner on the sand by candlelight, made for honeymoons, birthdays and anniversaries. It's a paid extra, so ask us on WhatsApp for the price and to book an evening when you book your cottage. If you'd rather stay in, our open-air restaurant serves seafood and barbecue in the evening.
Two days for two
- Day 1, 7 am: ship from Nuniarchhara jetty in Cox's Bazar.
- Day 1, early afternoon: ride south to the cottage; check-in is from 1:00 pm. Rest in the hammock.
- Day 1, evening: sunset over the rocks, then a candlelight dinner or seafood from the grill.
- Day 1, night: the stars from the lookout tower. Quiet hours start at 11:00 pm.
- Day 2, early: sunrise and a low-tide walk to Chera Dip, then breakfast.
- Day 2, by noon: check out, then the ship back at about 3 pm.
Check the tide times before the Chera Dip walk; our Chera Dip guide explains how.

Is there a honeymoon package?
We don't sell a fixed package. Instead, tell us what you'd like and we'll put it together in one WhatsApp chat: your cottage, your ship seats and a candlelight dinner. You pay only for what you choose, and we confirm every price before you pay.
Small things that make it better
- Book the ship and the cottage together, early, especially for a Friday or Saturday.
- Pack a light shawl or jacket: winter evenings by the sea are cool.
- Bring a torch for walking back after dinner.
- Keep the beach dark and quiet at night: the island's rules ban lights and loud music there.
- Leave the coral, shells and rocks where you find them.
Book your stay
Send us your dates on WhatsApp and tell us it's your honeymoon or anniversary. We'll confirm your cottage, and book the ship and the candlelight dinner if you'd like. How booking works is in how to book a hotel in Saint Martin.
