Our duplex cottages are the ones people remember. There are 6 of them at El Marena Eco Resort, each a two-storey wooden cottage on stilts among the trees near Chera Dip. Here's what's inside, floor by floor.
Downstairs
There's a double bed and your own attached bathroom with a shower and washbasin, so nobody has to go outside at night. That's handy for parents and older guests: everything they need is on one level.
Up the ladder
The sleeping loft is up a ladder. Children love it, but keep an eye on the little ones. On top is the lookout, the best seat at the resort for sunrise, sunset and the stars.
The balcony
Every duplex has a balcony and its own hammock. Morning tea among the trees is hard to beat, and so is an afternoon doing nothing at all.

What it costs
A duplex is ৳4,000–৳6,000 for the whole cottage, not per person. Sunday to Thursday is the lower price. It sleeps up to 4 guests in 300 sq ft, so four people sharing can pay just ৳1,000 each. See photos on the duplex cottage page.
Who it suits
A family of four fits comfortably, with the parents downstairs and the children up in the loft. Four friends can split the price. And for a couple on a honeymoon or an anniversary, it's the one with the private bathroom, the hammock and breakfast already sorted. If you're bringing older parents, the double bed and the bathroom are both downstairs, so they won't need the ladder.
How people use it
Drop your bags and go straight up to look at the view. Mornings start with tea on the balcony and breakfast from our kitchen. In the heat of the day the hammock takes over. The lookout comes back into its own around sunset, and again after dark when the stars come out.
