Each duplex cottage at El Marena has a lookout on top. Here's what you can see from it, and the best times to go up.
Each of the 6 duplex cottages at El Marena Eco Resort near Chera Dip is a two-storey wooden cottage on stilts, with a lookout on top. It's the guests' favourite spot for sunrise, sunset and the night sky.

What you can see
- The treetops and the fields around the resort.
- The sky to the east at sunrise and to the west at sunset.
- On clear nights, far more stars than you'll see in the city: the south of the island is very dark.
When to go up
- Sunrise: around 6 to 6:30 am in winter. Our sunrise and sunset article has the times.
- Sunset: around 5 to 5:30 pm in winter.
- After dark: for the stars, especially away from the full moon.
The rest of the duplex cottage
There's a double bed downstairs, a loft upstairs and an attached bathroom. There's a balcony and a hammock too, and breakfast is free. It sleeps up to 4 guests in 300 sq ft. See the duplex cottage page for photos and prices.

Safety
Hold the rail on the way up and down, especially in the dark, and keep small children with an adult on the lookout.
